I’m not always heavily superstitious, but I do believe in things like ghosts and magic. From where I stand, it makes more sense to treat supernatural things with respect and not mess with them lightly so they don’t wreak havoc on your life.
I started a new mini-blog on Tumblr, if anyone who reads this would like to follow me there. It’s mainly for smaller musings, the sort of thing I might have put on Twitter 10 years ago.
I really believe this song is talking about forming a relationship with someone you meet online, who ends up ghosting. I might be reading into it, but my experience of chatting with people in old AOL, Yahoo, and especially IRC chat rooms gets pinged pretty hard at some of these lines.
If you want to check out another Science Saru project after watching the Scott Pilgrim anime, Devilman Crybaby is NOT a good choice! It may be visually inventive, but it’s got none of the charming aspects SP is famous for. It’s much too bleak and nihilistic.
Instead, I’d recommend The Night is Short, Walk On Girl or, even more heartily, Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! They’re zany and a bit irreverent, there are characters with ridiculous personalities and insecurities, and relationships (romantic and platonic) play out in all their dysfunctional glory. Why go for inescapable darkness or a demon orgy when you can experience a 10-minute improvised musical declaration of love or watch a bunch of friends brainstorm a new fantasy world around them?
If I had the power to do it, I would make Israel/Palestine the first anarchist state established in the new millennium. No authorities, everyone has to work together to take care of the land and each other. Let the people who love and value the land so much come together and work out a solution that honors everyone.
Except those fucking Christian Zionists. They can hurry up and go to Hell where they belong.
I think I saw this album promoted on Instagram (a couple of months ago…long after it actually came out…), I finally got around to listening to it and it’s BLOWING MY MIND. It’s such a comfortable place to be, I want to live in this album for a while.
